HelpSystems acquires PhishLabs and Digital Guardian. Invicti Security raises $625 million. – The CyberWire

Minnesota-based IT management and cybersecurity company HelpSystems has acquired South Carolina-headquartered threat intelligence firm PhishLabs. HelpSystems stated, “The team and solutions from PhishLabs will join HelpSystems’ growing cybersecurity portfolio and pair well with HelpSystems’ email security, vulnerability management, and data protection solutions.”
HelpSystems has also acquired Massachusetts-based data loss prevention company Digital Guardian. The company stated, “The team and solutions from Digital Guardian will fit into HelpSystems’ data security portfolio, and combine with powerful security solutions such as GoAnywhere, Clearswift, Agari, and Titus. In addition to extending HelpSystems’ DLP capability, this acquisition further improves the company’s ability to categorize, or classify, data and protect it across a wide set of applications and operating systems.”
Chicago-based credit reporting agency TransUnion has agreed to acquire Maryland-headquartered identity theft protection company Sontiq for $638 million. TransUnion stated, “Sontiq’s focus on identity security complements TransUnion’s digital identity assets and solutions, and the combined company will offer a comprehensive set of omnichannel solutions to make trust possible for consumers and businesses.”
Florida-headquartered security awareness training company KnowBe4 has agreed to acquire Sunnyvale, California-based user behavior analytics firm SecurityAdvisor for approximately $80 million. KnowBe4’s founder and CEO Stu Sjouwerman stated, “We see this combination as a great addition to the existing capabilities of our platform as we believe it will enable true behavioral change and help build a more effective and mature security culture much faster. Finally, we view the addition of SecurityAdvisor to our platform as an accelerator to our product roadmap.”
London-based online identity verification company Onfido has acquired biometric security company EYN (also based in London). Onfido stated that EYN’s “industry-first acoustic liveness technology will be incorporated into Onfido’s Real Identity Platform with its employees joining Onfido’s research and biometrics teams.”
Vancouver-based identity security company Plurilock has agreed to acquire certain assets of India-based cloud access security broker (CASB) CloudCodes. The company stated, “The Acquisition will add additional functionality within Plurilock’s product portfolio, with CloudCodes’ CASB solution offered as an early access product under the name of Plurilock CLOUD. This additional technology solution creates new opportunity for Plurilock’s customers for a cost-effective cloud security solution and a path to integrate low-friction, high-security behavioral biometric identity with SSO and cloud security functionality. As a result, it is expected that the Acquisition will accelerate Plurilock’s sales growth and cement the Company’s position in the growing zero trust market.”
Austin, Texas-based application security testing company Invicti Security has secured a $625 million investment led by Summit Partners. The company stated, “The new financing will support Invicti’s continued growth and product development initiatives.”
Massachusetts-based SIEM provider Devo has raised $250 million in a Series E round led by TCV, with participation from General Atlantic and Eurazeo and existing investors Insight Partners, Georgian, Bessemer Venture Partners, and Kibo Ventures. The funding round brings Devo’s valuation to $1.5 billion. The company stated, “The new funding will fuel aggressive growth across new regions and market verticals, and significantly increase investment in channel expansion and product innovation.”
Colorado-based cloud directory platform provider JumpCloud has raised an additional $66 million for its Series F round from Atlassian Ventures, CrowdStrike Falcon Fund, NTT Docomo Ventures, and others. The investment brings the total Series F round to $225 million.
Israeli backup software company BackBox has raised $32 million in a Series A round led by Elsewhere Partners. The company added, “BackBox also appointed seasoned software industry leader and Elsewhere Partners Operating Advisor Andrew Kahl as CEO and established a new global headquarters in Dallas, Texas.”
Australian quantum cybersecurity firm QuintessenceLabs has raised AU$25 million in a Series B round led by Main Sequence and TELUS Ventures, with participation from InterValley Ventures and Terry Snow‘s Capital Property Group.
Bellevue, Washington-headquartered automated security and compliance company Hyperproof has raised $16.5 million in a Series A round led by Toba Capital, with participation from existing investors. The company’s founder and CEO Craig Unger stated, “With this round of funding, we are going to further accelerate our product innovation to bring simple, elegant and complete solutions to our customers and partners in order to take back the high ground in their fight to protect their business, customers, employees, and communities.”
Boston-based threat detection marketplace SOC Prime has raised $11 million in a Series A round led by DNX Ventures, with participation from Streamlined Ventures and Rembrandt Venture Partners. The company says it “will leverage the funding to scale and supercharge the adoption of the industry’s only Threat Detection Marketplace where researchers monetize their own SOC content to help security teams defend against digital attacks easier, faster and more efficiently than ever.”
Sacramento, California-based cloud-managed physical security company Rhombus Systems has raised $10 million in a Series A round led by Cota Capital, with participation from existing investors MSD Partners, Lemnos Labs, and Promus Ventures. The company says it will use the investment to “fund more R&D and build out the sales team to continue providing organizations with a customizable and scalable physical security platform.”
Israeli cloud data privacy company Piiano has raised $9 million in a seed round led by YL Ventures, with participation from Jibe Ventures. The company says it “will use the initial round of capital for R&D and go to market.”
Sydney, Australia-based searchable encrypted data storage company CipherStash has raised $3.3 million in a seed round led by AirTree and Nexus Venture Partners, Startup Daily reports.
San Francisco-based application security company Tromzo has raised $3.1 million in a seed round led by Innovation Endeavors and more than twenty-five CISOs and executives through Silicon Valley CISO Investments. According to FinSMEs, the company “intends to use the funds to continue to expand operations and its business reach.”
